Warm days, lots of sunshine and green grass. These are the days we all look forward to every year.
Once we were locked down at the end of February, I began to plan my vegetable garden, but I have a small garden where I have planted roses - eight to be exact! Five are fragrant English roses and big with bees. You will find: Lavender Lassie, Chicago Peace, Abraham Darby, Lady Jane Grey, and William Morris. I love all my roses and their beauty delights me every day. I rarely take cuttings for the house, I prefer the bees take their pollen than having them die and early death in my house.
Between two thundershowers, my Lavender Lassie bloomed. I ran outside with my easel and paints ready to capture a quick sketch. I got in the basics, as the sky changed, and took a quick photo to reference before running in from the rain.
I am proud to announce "Summer's First Bloom." 9"x12" oil on linen panel. Available.
Lavender Lassie has since produced a few more blossoms, but there is only one first bloom!
