A New Year

Isn't it great to welcome a new year?

New years and new beginnings are always exciting for me.  The possibilities are endless.

Today, I am sharing with you a new piece of work that you have never seen me create.  Meet, Iceburrg, a geometric painting based solely on design.  There is a story, but that is not what interests me, it is the design that excites me.

"But, Pearl," you say, "this is so different from what you were doing."
" It is! " I reply.

I am creating this based on a design principle that is ages old and has been lost to modern artists.  Leonardo Da Vinci used this to design his architectural renderings for the Milan Cathedral, which, sadly, was never used.

Mathematicians will recognize this immediately.  I am not a mathematician, but I can spot good design.

I spent six months last year studying the art of design in painting.  But, I fell in love with the designs themselves and felt a need to paint them instead of using them to design paintings.  I am currently using the design for a series of paintings based on the seasons.

The possibilities are endless and the fun has just begun!
