I have been on a journey that has taken me to places I never knew existed.
Back in the late 1990's I signed up for a plein air class. Filled with excitement, I went to class with my brushes, canvas and paint. After receiving the instructions, I started to put paint to canvas, but my instructor stopped me.
"You are not a brush painter," he said, "you need to paint with a palette knife."
I was stunned. I loved my brushes, but I followed his advice. Sadly, this was my first and last painting using a palette knife for many years.
A couple of months ago I felt a strong urge to try palette knife painting and, as you can guess, I loved it. I repainted Mountain View, which I had previous brush painted in 2020, just to see how it would look when painted with the palette knife technique.
I should have listed to my instructor years ago!
Which one do you like?

The original Mountain View 2020 is no longer with me, and the current iteration is still wet and on my easel. If you love it, email me at pearl@pearlwhitestudio to let me know. The original painting can be yours for just $255 - of course, once it's dry enough to ship or deliver, which will definitely happen before Christmas!
